Happy Monday my darling Swimwear and Lingerie friends!

I get to reveal another wonderful bra from my recent lingerie delivery!!!

I was making a huge order from Figleaves UK and was almost ready to hit submit, when I happened to notice a lonely long line bra calling out to me.

Gossard Sassy Plunge Bra

Gossard Sassy Plunge Bra

It was in a rather bright pinky-purpley shade that I generally don’t gravitate towards. It’s from Gossard and I don’t really have a lot of experience with that brand, so I thought, “Hey why not give it a shot?”

What can I say… I really love long lines and I was super excited about the Freya Nieve I had just ordered, so my optimism may have made me a little impulsive! There was just one left in my size, it had to be fate.

Gossard Sassy Longline Bra, Plunge style

Gossard Sassy Longline Bra, Plunge style

As you can see from the pictures, it is a bright purple- pink with black fishnet lace over top, some interesting black lace detailing and a bling-ish little charm thing at the center gore. All in all, it reminded me a bit of the showiness of an old west burlesque piece. Which helped to offset my lack of enthusiasm for the color.

Gossard Sassy Long line Plunge Bra

Gossard Sassy Longline Plunge Bra

The band fit nicely at first, although, it was looser than other 38’s that I’ve tried. I could probably have gone down to a 36 and been a bit more comfortable. The wider parts of the sides and back were nice enough and certainly kept me feeling nicely supported and tucked in.

Rear view of Gossard's Sassy Plunge Bra

The cups on the other hand were definitely not what I was expecting. They’re padded with thin foam and meant to be a fairly deep plunge style, however the cup size was so large, my partner was actually shocked.

{Which doesn’t happen often when you’re married to a 38GG}

He actually laughed and said, “Wow, those cups are huge! No way is that fitting you!”

I, of course, was all, “Well, I ordered my regular size and the tag says that’s what they are…”

This is my unsure face. But still, optimism is egging me on... darn you optimism!

This is my unsure face. But still, optimism is egging me on… darn you optimism!

{albeit in a really doubtful lame voice, because even I was a bit unnerved by their sheer scope. They fit really well on my noggin. One cup actually went around the circumference of my head… not a good sign}

The tag said it was a 38 G and darn it, I’d already bought and paid for it, so I decided I might as well see what it was like. Maybe it was just sized generously due to the whole plunge thing.

Even Dr. Evil knows I'm an idiot.

Even Dr. Evil knows I’m an idiot.

I wore it to work and then a lacrosse game {spectating, NOT playing} in order to put it through the paces and see how Gossard bras worked for me.

I was definitely unimpressed.

And neither does Maggie... or her boobs.

And neither does Maggie… or her boobs.

The cups were infinitely too big and it was ridiculous to have thought that cups that big were going to somehow magically support my GG breasts and fit my body.

My boobs were soooo not happy. Not as unhappy as this cat though... this thing is pure evil... I'm pretty sure this is what causes the upcoming apocalypse.

My boobs were soooo not happy. Not as unhappy as this cat though… this thing is pure evil… I’m pretty sure this is what causes the upcoming apocalypse.

The cups circled up under my arms and stabbed me in the armpits, necessitating a lot of wiggling and quick fixes every five minutes. Always a charming behaviour in super stodgey corporate Canada!

The center gore refused to stay seated against my chest and kept riding up and out to no man’s land.

It may as well have been here, certainly wasn't doing any good where it was resting.

It may as well have been here, certainly wasn’t doing any good where it was resting.

The band size wasn’t quite tight enough so it kept creeping up and the extra length of the bra that created the “should-have-been-sexy” long line effect, curled up in a dead spider way. I think the boning needed to be a bit more rigid to keep it in place and prevent it from trying to run back to its friends.

Hmmm, sorry, that should probably have come with a warning.

Hmmm, sorry, that should probably have come with a warning.

I was also sweating up a storm in it. I don’t know if it was because there wasn’t enough airflow through the fabric or if it was because I was getting an aerobic workout just trying to keep it from climbing up my chest and bursting through my neckline like a really garishly coloured Alien.

This should probably have come with a warning too. Sorry about that. Hey! Remind me to tell you a funny story about pregnancy, Aliens and labour sometime!

This should probably have come with a warning too. Sorry about that. Hey! Remind me to tell you a funny story about pregnancy, Aliens and labour sometime!

So, can you guess why it all turned out like that?

Even Cpt. Picard thinks I'm a dolt.

Even Cpt. Picard thinks I’m a dolt.

I’ll give you a hint. I did something dumb. Really, really dumb.

...when I look in the mirror!

…when I look in the mirror!

I assumed that a 38G would be the same in all brands, I didn’t bother to check the sizing chart of Gossard specifically. the chart below isn’t from Gossard, but it will give you a hint as to what I was experiencing.

Bra Cup Conversion Chart

Bra Cup Conversion Chart

I was wearing a cup size that was easily 2 cups too large. Which, when we’re talking about D+ sizing… means a whole heck of a lot bigger. I was basically trotting around in an I cup.

I’m an idiot.

I should have checked out the conversion charts provided on their website to get a clue.

Gossard Fitting Guide

Gossard Fitting Guide

Now that I’ve been to the site and looked around, I noticed that their Fitting Calculator has been disabled, so that wouldn’t have helped.

Sigh... I know...

Sigh… I know…

The statement below the Fitting Calculator was interesting though…

“Please note that this calculator is intended only as a guide and is most accurate between cup sizes A-DD – it should be used as a starting point for finding your perfect fit. Because we know every one of our Gossard Girls is unique we recommend that ladies with a cup size of above a DD get fitted in-store for an accurate measurement. Gossard Bras range from an A to a G cup.”

What’s the deal with that? Why are the E+ cup sizes so complicated? If you offer A-G cup sizes, then shouldn’t you offer products that perform reliably across that range of sizes?

You're right, you're absolutely right... I'll stop now.

You’re right, you’re absolutely right… I’ll stop now.

In other words, I have now ordered and worn a US size “I” in Gossard cups sizes rather than the US FF-GG I actually need. Sigh…. no wonder my armpits have been poked so much I felt like I was smuggling a porcupine.

So cute and snuggly, right?

So cute and snuggly, right?

I wonder how it fits in the correct size?

Cheers,

Maggie

I Love Lingerie!!! Even when it kicks me in the teeth!

I Love Lingerie!!! Even when it kicks me in the teeth!

Hiya Swimwear and Lingerie friends!

It might be Monday, but I’m all smiles πŸ™‚ {See? no word of a lie!}

Shiny Happy Me!

Shiny Happy Me!

You may recall I had a difficult time last week and even lingerie kicked me when I was down… sniff sniff.

But I was finally able to go and pick up my deliveries at the Post Office and all is right with the world again πŸ™‚

I was going to tell you all the fabulous things that I purchased, but now, I think I’ll just reveal them bit by bit with reviews and commentary. It’s more fun that way!

Anticipation! It's a good thing ;)

Anticipation! It’s a good thing πŸ˜‰

I’m wearing the bra I’m reviewing today, because it’s just so fabulous and I actually feel like a million bucks, which isn’t easy considering that I have the self esteem of a grade eight girl right about now.

Still very sad.

Still very sad.

{Thank you corporate Canada for making life so infintely lovely and dependably blech!}

Now, usually I don’t mention if I am a fan of the product until the end of the review, but I just can’t help it with this one… I LUUUURVE IT!

Freya Nieve; So pretty!

Freya Nieve; So pretty!

You see, it’s a Freya, so the quality is pretty awesome. I have yet to be disappointed by any of their wondrous garments.

Yup, I really, really do!

Yup, I really, really do!

It’s a long line bra which fulfills a fantasy of mine from waaay back!

Usually I can’t find one in a 38 back, but this one goes the distance.

Tri City Roller Girls, they're pretty fabulous, if I do say so myself! *fangirl*

Tri City Roller Girls, they’re pretty fabulous, if I do say so myself! *fangirl*

Actually the band fits a little more snug than usual, which is wicked because thanks to my aerobic falling with the Tric City Roller Girls Fresh Meat BootCamp, my chest girth has actually gone down!

Nieve Longline Bra from Freya

However, it didn’t come in a G or GG, which is what I really wanted to order, so I was prepared to make do with the FF cup.

*shamefaced* yup, I did...I'm THAT girl

*shamefaced* yup, I did…I’m THAT girl

YES I BOUGHT LINGERIE IN THE WRONG SIZE EVEN THOUGH I TOLD ALL OF YOU NEVER TO DO THAT!

If you're a hypocrite and you know it clap your hands... if you're a ...

If you’re a hypocrite and you know it clap your hands… if you’re a …

I’m a hypocrite of the first order.

{hangs head in shame… or am I just admiring the beautifully restrained cleavage of my new longline bra?}

Smirk

It all worked out really well though, because not only has my band size gone down, but so has my cup size apparently!

Shocking!

It’s like Freya knew all along!

I love Freya so much I might as well just buy the Tshirt!

I love Freya so much I might as well just buy the Tshirt!

The center gore is resting comfortably against my sternum and artfully helping to lift and separate my breasts but without giving me that over the top cleavage look.

Freya Nieve Longline Bra

Freya Nieve Longline Bra

The extra wide band is keeping all of my side and back flab properly contained and under control which is a real bonus of the longline style!

Full disclosure of bra-putting-on-FAIL! I have to admit that row of seven hook and eye closures was a little bit tricky and I did eventually turn the bra around to just get ‘er done. Something that I’ve also written about in the past as a no no.

That's right I say "NO!" Unless it's really hard in which case I say, "Oh go on... give it a shot!"

That’s right I say “NO!” Unless it’s really hard in which case I say, “Oh go on… give it a shot!”

Wow, I’m just breaking all the rules these days now aren’t I? Guess I’m just a rebel.

But you know what isn’t rebellious? The fabric pattern, it’s really cute!

The print is pretty darn awesome too!

Hello Swimwear and Lingerie lovers.

Pardon my typing today, I’m going cold-turkey on the chocolate and candies over here and it’s going… well (?)

Must eat something with red dye # 12... NOW!

Must eat something with red dye # 12... NOW!

Nah, I’m just kidding. I’m fine.

Nothing to worry about over here. I just had a little epiphany yesterday evening and realized that I really don’t like what the candy does to me. I become a whole other person.

Me WANT CANDY! AHHHHHHHHHHHRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Me WANT CANDY! AHHHHHHHHHHHRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Nooooo, not that person, but it’s a pretty close approximation!

{sadly, our hair is even pretty similar…although I have a little less crazy around the eyes perhaps}

If we tiptoe quietly back to the point of this post, maybe we won't set off the chocoholic...

If we tiptoe quietly back to the point of this post, maybe we won't set off the chocoholic...

Anyway, today is Totally Retro Tuesday and I have a lovely little vintage lingerie ad for your reading pleasure.

It’s in French and if you’re not a fellow survivor of French Immersion, don’t worry, you aren’t missing anything. The words aren’t really the important thing here.

This type of ad always makes me want to go shopping. I have been coveting a longline bra as long as I can remember. It could be a by-product of having Madonna‘s Like a Virgin phase, indelibly burned on my innnocent young brain.

Sure... SHE can find a size that fits... C'mon lingerie companies, hook a sister up!

Sure... SHE can find a size that fits... C'mon lingerie companies, hook a sister up!

I love the way they look and I think I love the way they feel.

There’s just something so very beautiful about them and the way they shape women’s bodies. Not to mention the way they shape our body language… Vogue

{whispering it in a fake echo voice…vogue, vogue, vogue, vogue….}

{although, without ever actually having one in my real size, it’s obviously difficult to say that with absolute certainty}

This might just be a case of coveting something that I can’t have. I can’t have fish or seafood either and I’m told they’re wonderful, but I really wouldn’t know.

{frankly it all looks like wet cockroaches that eat the poop of things swimming above them to me… although I could get behind the whole garlic butter dip!}

Beware the lobster bra...ooooh creepy and a bit nippy by the looks of it.

Beware the lobster bra...ooooh creepy and a bit nippy by the looks of it.

What if I could eat them and they were just blah and fishy-ish? I really hope that isn’t the case with the illusive longline bra. I really, really want one.

{Not to eat, to wear… just thought I had better clear that up… seemed a little ambiguous on the second read through!}

You better believe it! The lingerie-force is strong with this one! Yay capitalism!

You better believe it! The lingerie-force is strong with this one! Yay capitalism!

Freya had one out last season the nieve and it was so very stunning and perfect and perfectly out of my reach due to their willingness to only make it up to a 36 not a 38.

Freya Nieve Longline Bra, WANT

Freya Nieve Longline Bra, WANT

sigh…

Of all the ones I have tried on, some, supposedly, even in my size, I have yet to find one that fits comfortably.

Yet another Freya longline bra I can't have... sniff, sniff...

Yet another Freya longline bra I can't have... sniff, sniff...

Either they are too small in the band, or the bottom portion is longer than my actual ribcage and ends up floating away from my tummy and waist in a medieval armour type of look.

Have you had this kind of an issue?

Have you had any success with longlines? Is there are a brand that has a nice design that works with short waisted people?

Tell me please and I'll love you more than chocolate, but not more than longline bras...'cause that's just crazy-talk!

Tell me please and I'll love you more than chocolate, but not more than longline bras...'cause that's just crazy-talk!

Please leave me a comment and direct me to a longline bra that fits larger bands size {although I’m not really sure that 38 IS considered a larger band size} so I can stop whining and get shopping!

Goddess’s Keira Bra Review

The Keira Bra by Goddess

The Keira Bra by Goddess

Happy Monday my darling Swimwear and Lingerie fans!

For today’s Must Have Monday post, I thought I would review a full coverage, underwired bra made for D-N cups. So, for today, Must Have Monday refers to Must Have=> Honest, thorough review of a Bra!

I just so happen to have one of these beasts and am more than wiling to talk about its pluses and minuses. {Not that you would ever assume I would hold back, because clearly I lack the restraint of diplomacy, as my lovely boss told me the other day πŸ™‚ strangely, enough, I’m okay with that. At least people and bras know where they stand with me}

This is Who I am

{I’m assuming you like this about me, since you’re still here reading… hallooo? Anyone out there?………. huh, maybe I should strive to be a bit more ‘diplomatic’ then…. nah…. better to have the real me than a sell out looking to win a popularity contest right?}

The featured bra is the Keira by Goddess. The Goddess Bra range is one of the Eveden sister brands and has such famous family members as: Freya, Fantasie, Fauve, Freya Active and elomi. From past posts you may recall that I am a HUGE fan of their lingerie. I have yet to be disappointed with a single purchase and the Keira bra is no different.

The Keira Bra from Goddess Bras

The cups run true to size and are constructed from a supportive, five piece structure. The seams are lined for comfort and to reduce stretch, thus giving a true fit and form to the bra.

The Keira Bra by Goddess Bras

The powermesh detail on the top of the cup isn’t just decorative, {although it totally IS decorative
and gives that old world, boudoir glamour!}
it extends the coverage of the cup and prevents vertical spillage and bounce. There’s a pretty little bit of eyelet lace detailing the division between the powermesh and the satin that adds that extra touch of luxury.

Goddess Keira Bra in Chocolate

Goddess Keira Bra in Chocolate

The underwires are enclosed in soft, cozy, fleece-like material for wear-ability and durability. {Kind of like a teddy bear’s hug….awwww isn’t that sweet? Makes you want to just go and cuddle your over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders doesn’t it… though, come to think of it… the darn things get to play with my boobies and they didn’t even buy me dinner! Darn, liberty taking, teddy bear-like, hugging underwire bras!}

Just make sure he's not trying to cop a feel while he's at it!

Just make sure he's not trying to cop a feel while he's at it!

The bottom elastic band is wide and the fabric is brushed on the inside for increased fit, comfort and support. The shoulder straps, with small bow detail and decorative stitching, don’t have too much give in them and hold their position beautifully through the day. The straps are wide and distribute the weight evenly for maximum comfort.

Powermesh

Powermesh

My all time favourite part of this bra though is the powermesh sides! The powermesh is firm and holds fabulously along that tricky underarm portion of the body all the way to the back hook and eye closures. There are three closures that make for a solid line along the back and help to avoid back fat bulging.

{Not that you would have any, just saying the company has our backs….snerk… see what I did there? Sorry, couldn’t help it… sometimes the seriousness just gets too much and I gotta go all Maggie just for a break!}

This season, the colour is black, which I will be sure to be on the look-out for! But mine is in this amazing pinky-brown shade that quite frankly looks waaaay better than any white bra ever will under ANY clothing.

White Bra + White Shirt= No, No!

White Bra + White Shirt= No, No!

Have you guys ever noticed how the supposed rule of the white shirt, white bra is a huge bunch of baloney? If you do that, you just get dayglo boob outlines that completely distract anyone you try to talk to. Regardless of your skin colour, NO ONE is pure white and it never works on anyone!

My Skins Bras: With 20 skin matching shades

My Skins Bras: With 20 skin matching shades

My friend Reba pointed it out to me one day and mentioned how when she wears a white shirt, she is better off wearing a deep brown or black bra since that is closer to her skin tone, and that if I didn’t want people staring at my chest, I may want to try to find a skin tone colour bra too. Smart girl that Reba and it just goes to show you… Friends don’t let friends go out with high-beams… it’s a friend rule!

Longline Keira Bra By Goddess in Black

Longline Keira Bra By Goddess in Black

Want, want, want, WANT this longline! How spectacular does that look? I still haven’t found one, so if you happen to see one somewhere, please let me know!

If you haven’t tried a Goddess bra yet, but are now somewhat interested thanks to my stunning review, then I would advise you to check out their handy dandy, fitting video below. The lady walks through a fitting really well and it never hurts to review, does it?

Well, that’s all from me for now! Have a lovely Monday and remember, put on your best lingerie, because even if your Monday totally blows, at least you’ll end the day on a high note. It’s pretty hard not to smile when you get ready for bed and see how pretty your lingerie was all day, even if you had to slog through drudgery, work and annoyances.

Cheers,

Maggie

Freya’s Deco Reviewed and Adored

{fyi, the above photo is NOT the Freya Deco… but it is an awesome Freya Lingerie Set}

Happy Monday Swimwear and Lingerie luvahs!

It’s Must-Have-Monday and today is all about that Must-Have T-shirt Bra.

Longtime readers of the blog may recall that I’m not a fan of molded cup bras because I could never find one that actually housed the ladies properly without constant re-tucking-in of the boobs and yanking around of the band. Grrr for discomfort!

The cups never seemed to hold their shape properly and my breasts were either escaping completely or were always overflowing {Yes, yes, I realize the size was totally wrong NOW… but back then I was still trusting the supposed “experts” at the large department stores}…in short I was suffering from a seriously ugly case of quad boob. Ick!

Woah, Hey! This is for illustration purposes ONLY! That isn't me... though it kinda coulda been. Sigh. Friends don't let friends go out with Quad Boob

Woah, Hey! This is for illustration purposes ONLY! That isn't me... though it kinda coulda been. Sigh. Friends don't let friends go out with Quad Boob

Lucky for all of us, I finally stepped foot inside of a knowledgeable and kind lingerie boutique that was willing to break through the years of constant misinformation and tell me that I was not a D but a G. Kind of a huge difference right?

Who knew there was supposed to be a space? Victoria's Secret always said smooshed together was better!

Who knew there was supposed to be a space? Victoria's Secret always said smooshed together was better!

Either way, I was introduced to a ton of brands that actually made beautiful and stylish bras in my size and that could actually hold up my girls. One of those brands even helped me find a molded cup, T-shirt bra that I consider a wardrobe essential.

I love you Freya! Thank you for creating the Freya Deco.

I just recently bought another one (in pistachio this time!)

Freya Deco

Freya Deco

Amazing isn’t it? I’ve been dancing, singing karaoke at a wedding, organizing a magazine’s supply cupboard and kept up with a load of clingy, young children on a school field trip. This bra was up to any kind of activity and didn’t need to be constantly rejigged and re-adjusted. The wedding was the most amazing example of comfort and support though!

{snerk, this is actually a pretty good approximation of how most of my family’s weddings have been like, although I like to think my legs look better than Mike Myers and I stay on key a wee bit better!}

The cups not only held me in, they didn’t overflow or buckle. The band is true to size and seems to be cut high enough under the arms and around the back that I don’t get any of that hideous “back fat” look that can occur when you prefer gummies to the gym.

{Which I totally do! Mmmm, gummies would be nice right about now, wouldn’t they?}

Back fat can happen to good people, like me!

Back Fat can happen to good people, like me!

I think my favourite part of this bra is the fact that it has a really deep plunge styling to it. I can wear some of my deeper v-neck shirts with it, the center gore rests flush with my sternum {which is optimal! That’s a tip kids… write it down} and the straps are wide, but not TOO wide.

{super thin straps end up strangling my shoulders, whereas super wide straps make me look like a granny…has to be all goldilocks and juuuuust right!}

The bow detail in the center isn’t huge and liable to give the impression of a third nipple smack dab in the middle of my chest and the molded cups are easy to wash if not to store.

FYI they recommend never folding the cups into one another and certainly never storing the folded in half. Placing them in a drawer with balled up socks in the cup will help to maintain the material’s strength and shape, so it can support your breasts.

I highly recomend this bra {duh… like that isn’t completely obvious}, you’re bound to be pleasantly surprised.

Lingerie Survey on Nippular Issues

Damaris All in One, stunning isn't it?

Damaris All in One, stunning isn't it?

Hello Swimwear and Lingerie Enthusiasts!

Can you believe it’s almost the weekend already? Man I love long weekends and the ensuing short weeks!

For today’s Fitting Tip Thursday topic, I wanted to take a little survey of my darling readers and fellow lingerie fanatics feelings about an incredibly tabboo and naughty subject…{side eyes}… maybe I’ll just whisper it, so I don’t upset anyone… ahem…nipple.

Ackkkk! Noooooo, my virgin ears!!!!!

Ackkkk! Noooooo, my virgin ears!!!!!

Ack! Did she just say that? OMG, How absurd, how audacious, how weird that we get all bent out of shape over a part of the human body that both genders have. It’s odd isn’t it? Why do we only freak out about women’s nipples and not men’s? Oops, there I go saying it again.

I'm sorry, stop hiding I won't say it anymore...........NIPPLE

I'm sorry, stop hiding I won't say it anymore...........NIPPLE

I’ve been tooling around on the internetz and checking out all sorts of new lingerie and sites to share with you and as I was looking around, I kept thinking the same thing… why are the lingerie sites/brands/retailers photo-shopping out women’s nipples?

Figleaves is an online lingerie retailer that I absolutely adore! They have an amazing selection, near constant sales {oh, be still my flaming credit card} and a bizarre aversion to women’s nipples.

Here is a Freya Arabella Underwired Plunge Bra from their Bra section:

Either Figleaves or Freya Bras apparently have the amazing ability to make nipples disappear oooohhh spooky

Either Figleaves or Freya Bras apparently have the amazing ability to make nipples disappear oooohhh spooky

First things first, how gorgeous is that bra? WANT!

Now, either they have completely photo-shopped her areolas and nipples right off her body or they have somehow managed to hire a plethora of nipple-less lingerie models…they’re very rare you know.

Nope, it must be a Corporate Policy of Figleaves and not Freya, turns out Eberjey’s Peek-A-Boo Chemise isn’t so very peek-a-boo-ish without nipples to peek through the sheer fabric.

Figleaves presents the Eberjey Peek-A-Boo Chemise for shy nipples... although your mileage may vary

Figleaves presents the Eberjey Peek-A-Boo Chemise for shy nipples... although your mileage may vary

It may seem like I’m picking on Figleaves, but I’m actually not. You see, their policies will be in place because some “concerned citizens group” has created a ruckus somewhere and the laws created to appease them and governing what does and doesn’t constitute pornography are controlling the advertisers’ actions in this matter. What really gets me is that they have to do this in order to appeal to the largest market sector and still be able to operate online and in public.

Eberjey Peek a Boo (Super Floaty) Chemise, this way you can see how it will look in the wash!

Eberjey Peek a Boo (Super Floaty) Chemise, this way you can see how it will look in the wash!

Some online retailers like A Tropical Affair show the product on a woman with visible nipples, whereas Journelle have opted to show the product only, as in not on a person. The lingerie definitely looks better when modeled on a human body {and no a mannequin doesn’t do it justice either…fyi, mannequins totally freak me out… but not so much that I don’t occasionally hop up on store displays and pretend to be one until someone stops notices… it’s the little things in life people, embrace the fun} and it doesn’t seem fair or right that a retailer is hog-tied by the local bylaws for a global online presence when another retailer isn’t.

Real or mannequin? Either way how can she look so bored surrounded by all that lingerie?

Real or mannequin? Either way how can she look so bored surrounded by all that lingerie?

But, it isn’t the fairness that bugs me… it’s the prim and proper attitude behind it all. What the heck is wrong with women’s nipples? The Janet Jackson “wardrobe malfunction” is the perfect example. She still gets flack to this day for having her breast exposed while Soccer players routinely rip their shirts off and run victory laps shirtless {and I hope they never stop!!!!} Everyday, a man is walking around with his nipples hanging out or visible through his shirt, he isn’t being told to cover up. He isn’t being told that his anatomy is licentious and rude and potentially pornographic.

Eeek.... those are exposed nipples!!!!!

Eeek.... those are exposed nipples!!!!!

I’m not unaware of the fact that women’s breasts have been overly-sexualized longer than sliced bread, but I can’t understand why it’s okay to show her breasts but not the nipples… it’s just not making sense and it’s starting to hurt my head. It’s making me feel all crazy muppety.

Meeker says; "Ahhhh, just stop saying nipple!!!!!"

Meeker says; "Ahhhh, just stop saying nipple!!!!!"

Just kidding, I’m okay, but inquiring minds do want to know.

Could I beg of you all to kindly take the following Nipple Survey and let me know your thoughts on the matter? If I’m crazy {which is highly likely but that doesn’t necessarily mean that my nipple confusion isn’t a fair question…just that I’m nuts about nipples…that could make a really great new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavour!} then I’ll just learn to get over it… BUT, if you feel the same way, then maybe we can give our favourite online and bricks and mortar retailers a heads-up about how their nipple-editing makes us feel!

I’m looking forward to your answers, so don’t be shy, tell me what you really think of the whole issue or non-issue as the case may be!

Cheers,

Maggie

Fitting Plus Size Bras

Italian Vogue 1

Happy Thursday Swimwear and Lingerie Friends!

To continue the theme of our “Fitting Tip Thursdays”, I have a wonderful video that demonstrates some of the key factors and considerations necessary for fitting a plus size or full-figured woman with the proper bra size.

plus-size-model-fluvia-lacerdav

plus-size-model-fluvia-lacerda

Strangely enough, the steps are almost identical to those of fitting every one else. The most important being that the client should always feel at ease. I particularly liked the fitter’s admonishment to other fitters to adjust the straps off to the side of the shoulder so as not to “twang” the Lady. Brilliant.

Ford_models-Ashley Graham-

Ford_models-Ashley Graham-

The bra that they are using to fit the model is from Goddess. It certainly fits the model much better, but isn’t overly pretty, which is a shame because Goddess does offer some really gorgeous styles.

Italian Vogue

Italian Vogue

Anyhoo, back to the matter at hand. The video skips over the sizing part, so I’ll look the other way too. It was produced by Eveden and they certainly do know a thing or two when it comes to lingerie and beautifully made and fit bras.

Here is their “About Us” page on the website; “We are leaders in the D+ intimate apparel market, offering a whole family of brands, each with their own personality and position in the market. We understand that one size does not fit all and that every woman is different in terms of her size, shape, taste and even how she feels! We offer high quality, fashion conscious lingerie and bra-sized swimwear, which is now stocked in over 5000 retailers, including national and independent stores as well as online across the globe, in more than 30 countries.”

They are the designers behind; Fantasy, Fauve, Freya, Freya Active, Goddess, Elomi and huit8. Each of them ranking pretty highly on my favourites list.

Shall we all watch now? Got your popcorn ready? Let’s begin…

…and what did we all learn today?

Well, I learned that when being fit for a bra the person should always speak with a very anesthetized voice…it lulls the client into a relaxed state, so they can better accept the news that they’ve been wearing the wrong size bra for the past 30 years.

I really appreciated how they went point by point through proper and improper fit and what all the key indicators and red flags were for proper fit. Most people still don’t know how a bra SHOULD fit.

Almost at the weekend people, Start revving your engines… I know I can’t wait to hurry up and slooooow down. I have huge plans to absolutely NOTHING and I can’t wait to get started.

Cheers,

Maggie

Ps. Darn it… I should probably mention this before I totally forget. There are about a-bazillion online lingerie sales happening these days. I would highly suggest you follow me on Twitter to stay on top of them all!
