Happy Thursday Swimwear and Lingerie Friends!

How is every one this week? Enjoying the warmer weather and keeping a sharp eye on your social media accounts for all the wickedly tempting flash sales popping up?

What Katie Did is having a flash sale of 25% OFF their Hollywood line… were any of you able to take advantage of the terrific savings?

There’s still time, it’s on until Friday June 10th!

Good grief, there I go again, getting off topic. Sorry guys.

Right,it’s Fitting Tip Thursday and I thought we might do some myth busting for our tip today! No, I’m not going to lace the guys from MythBusters up in Corsets and see if we can alter their inner organs through tight lacing, {we already know that tight lacing will effect those kinds of changes without torturing Jamie and Adam}. Nope, I thought we would take a closer look at bra straps.

Exciting right? What? Not really? You never really thought about the lowly bra strap? You would rather see the guys dressed up in some high end luxury lingerie and made to run a 10 K marathon backwards? Wow…weird… I’m kinda curious which one would win…

But never mind all that!

Generally speaking, when we go to all the effort to buy higher end lingerie and get a precise fit, most women breathe a huge sigh of relief, comfortable in the knowledge that they have done the best they could to outfit themselves in the right sized bra.

But have they?

Kinda spooky right?

How many of you adjust your straps on a daily basis? Hands up so I can count…

Huh.

Okay, how many of you adjust the straps after you wash your bra and before your wear it again? Don’t be shy…raise the hands high!

Riiiight. {Pffft, pfffft. is this thing on? Can anyone hear me out there?}

Okay, easy one then, how many of you adjust the straps when they start falling down your shoulder and annoying you?

And look at all the joiners now!

I was reading some blogs awhile ago that recommended that you only buy your bra if it is comfortable having the straps left as loose as possible, that way as the bra looses it’s elasticity you can tighten it up.

Well, first of all. I think that myth stinks.

The idea of the adjustable bra strap is to get as personalized and precise a fit as possible EVERYTIME you wear it. Buying a bra size that will allow you to have the straps be as loose as possible is really heinous advice! Just as you shouldn’t ONLY buy a bra that fits just on the tightest strap setting, you shouldn’t buy a bra that only fits on the loosest strap setting.

The straps are there to allow for your body fluctuations. Your bra size will increase and decrease along with the ebb and flo of your wonderful hormones and your super-salty, fast food eating schedule.

Right so, I do realize you aren’t going to adjust the bra perfectly every day, but taking a quick glance at the straps before you whip it on to make sure your kids haven’t been using it as a sling shot for water balloons, could save you a whole lot of annoyance when you are stuck in nerve-wracking, stop and go, bumper to bumper commuter traffic and your arms are locked to your sides because your bra straps have fallen down to your elbows.

{Not that I’m speaking from experience here or anything… just saying it could happen}

Any hoo, just a heads-up and a request that you question the advice you hear bandied around as though it is common sense. (Yes even my advice… let me know if you think I am waaay off base!)

Cheers,

Maggie
