Sorry for the late posting. Today was my penultimate day of work and my brain is a bit fried from all the loose ends that need tying up.
Today I wanted to show you the swimsuit that is currently intriguing me.
JCrew Off the shoulder tank
Gorgeous isn’t it?
The single shoulder is revealing and offsets the full coverage of the rest of the suit. The ruching is really flattering and as always, I love the colour
I just wish J.Crew would feed their models up a bit and definitely lay off of the photoshop. It’s pretty ridiculous!
Their thighs will never come close to touching, even if the models scissor their legs. Yet they have serious cleavage… riiiight. Not so much this model, but the other models on their swimsuit page. I’m a better airbrush artist than this and I only play around giving myself extra phantom arms and ears. {what? don’t judge }
I’m surprised people aren’t boycotting based on their marketing pictures, but there you have it. I still like the swimsuit, but I can’t buy it and support that kind of crappy female imagery.
Have a great weekend everyone, enjoy the heat and sunshine.
I said hot and whiney… NOT hot and grouchy… sheesh, listen people
I have a head cold still.
I feel like a ginormous bag of poo.
I’m as glazed as a donut.
I don’t even want a donut.. that’s how peeved I am… I couldn’t even taste it if one magically jumped in my mouth.
Sigh…
Let’s just go for a picture walk of bra fit issues, okay? We’ll look at the lovely images that Victoria’s Secret has to offer…
See how the bra is riding on the full part of her breast in the left hand picture? Not good.
If the underwire is sitting on your breast tissue and not in that handy little crease between your boobs and your ribcage… it’s not well fit.
See how the center gore of the bra is levitating an inch or so away from her chest? Not good.
You may also note that her boobs are spilling out and around the confines of the cup liked squished pudding. Pretty from afar, but far from pretty.
Okay, I’m not really sure if this is a fitting fail or a photoshop fail… I’m gonna go with both. Either way, it’s not good.
Same issue as above… actually on looking at the images available online, representative of the advertising… it would appear that they think that this is how a bra should fit.
They would be very wrong.
This might be the million dollar bra… but OUCH! Side, front and under spillage, not to mention a serious case of cup pinch… her boobies, I feel really bad for them.
So what have we learned today?
Bra fit can make even a super model type of person look bad. If you want to impress a Victoria’s Secret Fitter or model apparently all you have to do to fit in is wear a bra that is at least 2 sizes too small and pout.
I’d rather rock the confidence of a well fit and supportive bra and be able to remove it without having permanent etchings and pinch marks.
Well, it’s awesome over here, I caught a cold at the end of the long weekend and spent my holiday Monday cleaning the house, napping and looking like a glazed donut.
I feel like a big bag of poo.
Good times!
I’m still stuffier than a hipster pottery barn pillow, so let’s have some fun looking at a vintage lingerie ad from our good buddies over at Maidenform.
It’s an activity that’s sure to brighten my mood.
Am I the only one that thinks that Maidenform’s idea of being a queen is rather similar to a creepy carnival? Hmmm, maybe more vaudevillian- the girl on the velvet swing-type of a thing.
The dog looks mortified to be stuck next to her and her giant meringue of a dress.
Ahh well, there’s no accounting for taste now is there… maybe she meant Queen of the Prom…
Just a reminder that today is a stat holiday for Canadians, so we’ll be making merry and hanging out. In the mean time, I hope you enjoy the cute little retro booze ad, in honour of our national pass-time…
Hmmmm, they forgot the beer, bbq and bikinis…. weird
Hello Swimwear and Lingerie friends.
Happy Thursday of an upcoming Canadian Long Weekend!
Today’s Fitting Tip Thursday post is a response to the fun topic of multiple nipple-itis.
Seriously, what? If we don’t talk about these things, how will people ever learn how to fix them?
When wearing a bra, do you find that you appear to have four nipples, with the extra two situated close together right in the center of your chest?
That’s not a great look and it can’t be very comfortable either… Wanna know how to change that?
It may not be a bad thing either. Certainly a quick way to start a conversation with a stranger… People love auxillary nipples on humans, just ask Chandler!
Now, most women may be able to recognize that this is occurring because the underwire of your bra cups is tipping forward and away from your chest.
Nah.. just kidding, as a gender we’re really just as clueless as guys about our bodies and their general maintenance and upkeep.
But, trust me there’s plenty out there, that would be able to figure it out and would just assume that you have the physical option of nursing an entire litter at the same time.
Hmm, not a good look for a human lady… just fine on a dog though
So let’s get that corrected shall we? I’m going to use Fantasie Lingerie as an example of correct fit, because they really do know what they’re doing when it comes to properly supporting a womans bust.
Here’s what you do.
Obivously have your sizing checked by a fitting professional because the cups are not big and/or deep enough to properly encircle and enclose your breast.
Fantasie Lingerie Tina
You may notice that the underwire is resting on rounded bottom portion of your breast and not underneath in the crease between your rib cage and breast where it should be.
Fantasie Lingerie Samantha
This lack of proper fit is preventing the center gore from resting comfortably against your sternum (area between your breasts). Thus the underwires are being tipped forward and out.
Fantasie Lingerie Elodie
If you find that the sizing is correct according to your most recent sizing, remember that all bras fit differently and that while you may a certain size in one brand/style/type of bra, another brand/style/type may require you to go up or down a size or two to get the proper fit.
Fantasie Lingerie Lizbeth
At the end of the day, your size is more of starting point. The real test is the fit. You could have several different sizes in your lingerie drawer and they all may fit perfectly. Sometimes life is just like that. Confusing as hell and willing to mess with you.
Happy Wednesday my sweet Swimwear and Lingerie friends.
Continuing on my lovely journey of exhausting interviews and the occasional soul wrenching rejection, I have to say, it is a welcome relief to come here and chat with you.
Today’s pin up image features a lovely if completely uncoordinated lady trying to take a picture.
Seriously? Could she look less natural?
Caption: “Hmmm….The book said having my knees and elbows touching would create a revealing picture… I’m not so sure I’m doing it right though…”
On a brighter note, I’m really glad her shoes match her dress!
Have you come across Plum Pretty Sugar’s designs before? They’re wonderful! Bright, colourful and pretty. These oh so feminine clothes were definitely calling to me. I hear they’ve now added an XL size to the range, so that’s great news for the curvier ladies and I may give that size range a try too.
The photography on the site is fabulous and definitely shows off the clothes nicely. Unfortunately, while the clothing seems to fit the pictured models beautifully, it wasn’t a great match with my shape. I have curves. Lots of curves. In fact I have wide shoulders and rather wide hips. {even my curves have curves}
Plum Pretty Sugar Tunic Silk Road Sweet
The fit was a bit off for me in both my shoulders and my hips and my bust was rebelling even with a minimizer bra. sigh.
I really wanted to like this tunic, because the silk is so delicately light and the colours are so pretty and summery. But the shoulders were actually too wide, which doesn’t happen very often. I was able to just add a little knot in the back stabilizer sash of wide v-back to make it fit a bit better. But then it was time to pull it down over my hips and… yah, not so much.
Definitely don’t want to bust the beautiful silk by trying to force it.
These tunics are cut pretty slim in the hips, so if you have a short torso and wide hips, you may need to do some serious adjusting.
I will be removing the stitching from the sides all the way up to the waist and making a bit more room for my hips. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to wear it!
I was curious if it was just my Jessica Rabbit-esque body that was the issue so I had several friend and family members give the tunic a shot too and they also found the hip area tight and the shoulders rather loose. So, I suppose that it is the styling of the tunic that isn’t working so well for me.
Plum Pretty Sugar Silk Tunic
On a brighter note, if you have wider shoulders or really like a loose drapey fit in the shoulders and a tighter fit in the hip, then this tunic was made for you!
Plum Pretty Sugar’s Tied Up With String
I also purchased their Tied Up With Strings Tunic, but I’ll save that review for another day.
